In November 2015, Buffalo Trace invited whiskey drinkers to visit a dedicated website and design their ideal bourbon, choosing the recipe, warehouse placement, age, and proof through a simplified, interactive distilling experience. More than 100,000 fans took part, and when the votes were compiled, the overwhelming consensus pointed to one clear answer: a wheated bourbon, aged eight years on the highest warehouse floors, bottled between 90 and 99 proof. Buffalo Trace listened, and W.L. Weller C.Y.P.B. was born, first released in the summer of 2018 and now released as one batch annually.

Built on the same wheated mash bill that defines the entire Weller lineage, and closely related to the celebrated Van Winkle bourbons, C.Y.P.B. spends its full eight years on the rickhouse's top floors, where greater temperature extremes accelerate maturation and pull more character from the wood than lower floors typically allow. That extra oak influence, combined with wheat's naturally softer, sweeter profile, gives C.Y.P.B. a richness that stands apart from other Weller expressions.
