Orphan Barrel Latverian Cask 20 Year Old Light Whiskey

Product Description

Orphan Barrel Latverian Cask 20 Year Old Light Whiskey: A One-Time Release Inspired by Avengers: Doomsday

For more than twenty years, a collection of American light whiskey barrels aged quietly in the dark. Orphan Barrel Latverian Cask brings them out, a 20-year-old American light whiskey inspired by Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Doomsday, in theaters December 18. It’s Orphan Barrel’s first American light whiskey, a once-only release from a finite set of barrels that can’t be recreated, named for Latveria, the fictional nation ruled by Doctor Doom, and dressed in original Marvel artwork by Rod Reis. It’s bottled at 92 proof (46% ABV).

The whiskey was distilled in Indiana from a predominantly corn mash bill and aged at least 20 years, mostly in Kentucky, in barrels that previously held bourbon, rye, and earlier light whiskey. Light whiskey is a softer American style, and two decades in used oak gave this one depth without weight: Orphan Barrel describes caramel and sweet vanilla on the nose, honey, butterscotch, orange peel, and oak on the palate, and a warm finish of creamy vanilla and dried fruit, mellow and soft. The brand recommends it neat or with one small ice cube, letting it open slowly as the ice melts. It’s a collector’s bottle for whiskey fans and Marvel fans alike, and one in six bottles carries a holographic label, so it also rewards a lucky draw.
