This extraordinary expression continues Gold Spot's tradition of utilizing a variety of cask types to mature their whiskey, but with a unique twist. The whiskey is matured in a combination of ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks, which are staples in the Spot Whiskey maturation process, providing a solid foundation of rich flavors and aromas. What sets The Generations Edition apart is its additional maturation in Valpolicella Recioto Italian wine casks for 16 months. Valpolicella Recioto is a rare and luxurious sweet red wine from Italy's Veneto region, known for its intense flavors of dark fruits and berries.

The influence of the Valpolicella Recioto casks elevates the whiskey's subtle spice notes, infusing it with layers of dark fruits, berry compote, and a softly textured sweetness. This results in a complex flavor profile where the traditional characteristics of Irish whiskey meet the rich, fruity nuances of Italian wine. On the palate, expect a symphony of flavors—sweet vanilla and toasted oak from the ex-bourbon casks, dried fruits and nutty undertones from the ex-sherry casks, and a lush, fruity sweetness with hints of dark cherries and plum from the Valpolicella Recioto casks. TASTING NOTES

Nose
Red apples and dark fleshy fruits at first, accompanied by fragrant blossom notes with sweet and woody undertones. Spices of clove and light dustings of nutmeg along with subtle hints of almond slowly come to the fore, complementing the fruits.

Taste
Luscious and sweet with generous servings of red berry compote, toffee apple and raisin. The wine seasoned casks and oak continue to impart delicate tannins, working in tandem with the pot still spices and fruits, while the sweetness adds further intricate flavours, balancing this wonderfully intriguing whiskey.

Finish
Lingering finish which sees the oak slowly fading, allowing the sweet wine and pot still spices to have the last word.
