Sazerac de Forge & Fils traces its roots to 1782, when Bernard Sazerac de Forge founded a cognac house that shipped across Europe and America and eventually lent its name to New Orleans' famous Sazerac cocktail, before fading into history during the phylloxera epidemic of the late 1800s. In 2016, the Sazerac Company acquired the historic Domaine Breuil de Segonzac estate in the heart of Grande Champagne, Cognac's most celebrated cru, reviving the brand in 2019 and bringing it fully back to life in November 2025 with three new releases, including this one.

Grande Champagne Vintage 2000 is the domaine's first true single-harvest release, distilled entirely from grapes grown in the 2000 harvest and matured in French oak for more than two decades without blending. As Cellar Master Denis Lahouratate put it while selecting the barrels, "this one is not for blending. It is for a pure vintage." That decision lets the spirit's natural identity, shaped by Grande Champagne's chalk-rich soils and a single exceptional growing season, come through completely untouched. "Our blends are patiently shaped over time, developing complexity and depth," Lahouratate explained. "Others are released as vintages, capturing their singular qualities. In every case, the goal is the same: a Cognac that reveals individuality and artistry."

Bottled at 44.8% ABV, making it the highest-strength release in the new Sazerac de Forge trio, this vintage arrives in a clear glass bottle with a gently curved silhouette and natural cork stopper, complemented by a matching cream and blue carton with gold accents. Every bottle is genuinely unrepeatable: once this single harvest is gone, there will never be another release exactly like it.
