This collector’s set pairs the two oldest bourbons in the Pappy Van Winkle’s Family Reserve line: 20 Year and 23 Year, one 750ml bottle of each. Both are wheated Kentucky straight bourbons, which use wheat instead of rye as the secondary grain for a softer, richer profile, and both are produced at Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort, Kentucky, under the joint venture between the Van Winkle family’s Old Rip Van Winkle Distillery Co. and Buffalo Trace that began in 2002. 23 Year: The oldest bourbon Buffalo Trace releases, with each barrel carefully selected from the heart of the warehouse, and bottled at 95.6 proof. Buffalo Trace calls it exceptionally rare and limited.
