Midleton Very Rare Forêt de Tronçais is a limited Irish whiskey combining single pot still and single grain whiskeys distilled from the 1980s through the 2000s. The components first matured in American bourbon barrels.

After blending, the whiskey spent an additional three years in T5 casks made from fine-grained oak sourced from France’s Forêt de Tronçais. The producer bottles the expression at 48% ABV.

The long French-oak finish adds perfume, toasted wood, coffee, nuts, chocolate, and woodland spice around Midleton’s orchard fruit, grain sweetness, and pot-still spice.

Nose: Poached pear, caramelized apple, orange zest, honeycomb, hazelnut, coffee, and perfumed oak.

Palate: Peppermint, sage, orchard fruit, orange, chocolate-dipped honeycomb, vanilla, and fine tannin.
