The brand was founded by ex-Green Berets John Koko and Scott Neil, with Scott among the original team of soldiers sent into Afghanistan after 9/11, a mission later depicted in the film "12 Strong." Their nickname, the "Horse Soldiers," came from the Green Berets and Mujahideen fighters who overran Taliban tanks on horseback, and today those men are honored by America's Response Monument overlooking Ground Zero in New York City. In a fitting tribute, every Horse Soldier bottle is cast from steel molds made using recovered steel from the World Trade Center, donated by The New York Port Authority.
