Grey Goose Altius Ultra Premium Vodka: Alpine Water, Sub-Freezing Filtration, Hand-Bottled and Numbered

Grey Goose Altius is the brand’s Alpine expression, announced in April 2024. It’s the first Grey Goose made with pure Alpine spring water from the French Alps instead of the brand’s usual water, blended with the same soft winter wheat from Picardie. After blending, the vodka is filtered at about −24°C, which recreates the high-altitude, glacial crystallization of the Alps and, the brand says, yields a remarkably smooth vodka. It’s hand-bottled at 40% ABV (80 proof) and individually numbered.

Grey Goose’s master distiller, François Thibault, said the idea was to draw inspiration from one of France’s most admired natural landmarks. The frosted bottle has a white-to-blue gradient with embossed geese, evoking the Alps.

Grey Goose says Altius tastes different from its standard vodka, which it describes as rich and round with lemon zest and warm baked bread. Altius is more mineral and apple-forward.

The clean, mineral profile pairs well with caviar, oysters, smoked salmon, and sushi. It also goes with blini, shellfish, and soft cheeses, and with a classic martini olive.
