The Balvenie 18 Year French Pineau Cask is a distinctive single malt Scotch whisky crafted under the expert guidance of Malt Master Kelsey McKechnie. This exceptional release begins with traditional oak maturation, followed by a unique secondary aging in French oak casks that previously held Pineau, a sweet wine from the Charentes region of France.

These casks hold a special place in The Balvenie’s history. Initially, they were part of David C. Stewart's experimental project with French Pineau casks. While the results did not meet Stewart's rigorous standards at first, the casks were not discarded. Instead, they were left to mature for an additional eight years under McKechnie's careful supervision, leading to a remarkable transformation.

The final whisky showcases a complex interplay of delicate spicy sweetness, rich amber warmth, and gentle oaky tannins. This release reflects both the enduring influence of time and Stewart's innovative spirit, resulting in a whisky with layers of flavor that tell a story of experimentation and refinement.
