Product Description
Arette Artesanal Suave Añejo Tequila: Twenty Months in Bourbon Barrels, Made the Traditional Way
Arette Artesanal Suave Añejo is the aged expression of the Artesanal line from the Orendain family’s El Llano distillery (NOM 1109) in the town of Tequila, Jalisco. Five generations of the family have made tequila in the Tequila Valley since the early 1900s, and Arette only uses 100% estate-grown Blue Weber agave. The Artesanal line is their most traditional production: agave cooked about 15 hours in brick ovens instead of autoclaves, fermented with a proprietary yeast in original cement vats, and double pot-distilled. The añejo then rests for 20 months in used ex-bourbon barrels before bottling at 40% ABV (80 proof).
“Suave” means smooth, and the goal is silky delivery without losing the agave. According to retailers, it’s rested in tanks and bottled without chill filtration, with no added glycerol, caramel, or oak extract.
How It’s Made

Tasting Notes
From Arette’s and retailers’ descriptions.
Color: Light to deep amber.
Nose: Bright cooked agave with caramel, vanilla, toasted oak, pepper, and honey.
Palate: A soft, smooth body, with sweet agave, citrus, dried fruit, nuts, caramel, and vanilla.
Finish: Long and spicy, with buttery caramel and honey.
Reviewers describe earthy, peppery notes balanced by caramel from the oak, though some find the barrel stronger than the agave.
Food Pairings
The caramel, vanilla, and spice pair well with grilled steak, carnitas, and mole. It also goes with dark chocolate, flan, aged cheeses, and roasted nuts.
Serving Suggestions
Sip it neat or over a single large cube. Its softness suits slow sipping, and it also stands in nicely for whiskey in a tequila Old Fashioned.
