The legend begins one fateful night at the Distillery, when workers heard the sound of hooves echoing through the yard after a fête. While some say it was simply Rory, the Distillery’s mischievous Shetland Pony with a notorious sweet tooth, others insist it was something more magical. As the workers ventured out, they claim to have seen a horse-like figure rearing against the full moon, a strange 'horn' emerging from its head. Rumors soon swirled about a sighting of Scotland’s national animal—the Unicorn.

While questions remain about a mysteriously raided ice cream truck and Rory’s suspiciously open gate, the tale of the Islay Unicorn has taken on a life of its own, much like this remarkable whisky. The Unicorn's Tale captures this duality—what appears to be a sweet and gentle spirit hides a deeper, more sinister smoky character, reminiscent of the myth itself. TASTING NOTES

Aroma
Rich, sweet, aromatic and fruity, baked banana bread and syrupy sponge pudding fill the senses. Notes of treacle trot into a distinctive whiff of burning cedarwood. A splash of water releases a bounty of tropical fruits. Eucalyptus oil mingles with soft, aromatic smoke.

Taste
Zesty notes of lime and sweet peaches canter across the palate. A burst of rich smoked fruit and baked bread prance into antiseptic lozenges, creosote, and aniseed. Soft barley malt combines with nutmeg and peat smoke.

Finish
