Remus Repeal Reserve is Ross & Squibb Distillery’s annual limited release, created to commemorate the repeal of Prohibition on December 5, 1933, and named for George Remus, the Prohibition-era figure known as the “King of the Bootleggers.” Each edition is a medley of high-rye straight bourbons from the distillery’s 175-year-old home in Lawrenceburg, Indiana (formerly MGP), blended from two mash bills (about 21% and 36% rye) and aged roughly 8 to 18 years, depending on the year. Most editions are bottled at 100 proof (50% ABV). The distillery releases a new one each September, in time for National Bourbon Heritage Month, in limited quantities, with a suggested price of $99.99.

Master Distiller Ian Stirsman and his team select and blend the whiskeys, and the blend changes every year, so each edition has its own personality. The series has won high praise, including 98 points from Tasting Panel for Series IV and V and a Best of Class at the 2021 Sunset International Spirits Competition.
