How Tears of Llorona Is Made

Germán González hand-selects high-altitude, late-harvest agaves for their elevated starch and sugar content, roasting the piñas slowly using traditional methods before fermenting with his proprietary yeast. Distillation happens by copper pot still, followed by five years of aging across a rare trifecta of barrels, oak that previously held scotch, sherry, and brandy, creating a layered fusion more reminiscent of a fine cognac than a typical tequila. That extended barreling at high specific gravity also leads to significant evaporation loss, the "angel's tears" that quietly inspired the tequila's name. It's bottled at 43% ABV in a distinctive, hand-numbered 1-liter bottle.
