Product Description
Dark Arts Amburana Oak Stave Finished Small Batch Rye: Cinnamon-Forward Rye from Brazilian Oak
Dark Arts Amburana Oak Stave Finished Small Batch Rye starts with a mature, high-rye whiskey: a blend of three sequentially numbered barrels, aged roughly 7 to 8 years, made from 95% rye and 5% malted barley and originally distilled in Indiana. Dark Arts then finishes it for the last weeks with custom-toasted Amburana oak staves, a Brazilian wood long used to age cachaça and only recently seen in American whiskey. The wood adds gingerbread, cinnamon, and warm spice that play off the rye’s own spice. It’s blended and bottled in Lexington, Kentucky, always at 108 proof (54% ABV).
Each small batch yields only about 600 to 750 bottles. One reviewer called it the best cinnamon-forward whiskey they’ve had, with cinnamon as the clear star and vanilla, coconut, and French toast in supporting roles. Dark Arts is a blending and finishing house, so the base whiskey is sourced.

Tasting Notes
From Dark Arts’ own notes.
Nose: Buttercream, cinnamon sugar, fresh apple, and ginger.
Palate: Like warm apple pie à la mode, with French vanilla ice cream, Vietnamese cinnamon, and a caramel drizzle.
Finish: Long and complex, with toasted coconut, juicy red fruits, and freshly baked rye bread.
Food Pairings
The cinnamon and apple pair well with apple pie, French toast, and bread pudding. It also goes with aged cheddar, roasted pork, and spiced nuts.
Serving Suggestions
Sip it neat, with a few drops of water to open the cinnamon and soften the 108 proof. It’s also a good base for a spiced Old Fashioned, a Manhattan, or a hot toddy, where the cinnamon does the work.
