Wedding alcohol planning is easier when you decide the service style before calculating bottles. A full bar, beer-and-wine menu and signature-cocktail service require very different inventory.
Confirm venue rules first
Ask about licensed bartenders, corkage, delivery windows, storage, insurance and whether outside alcohol is permitted. Do not place a large order until those rules are clear.
Build a focused menu
Two wines, one or two beers and two spirits can cover many weddings. Signature cocktails should share mixers and garnishes to reduce cost and speed service.
Estimate carefully
Use guest count, drinking participation, event duration and time of day. Reduce estimates for children, nondrinkers and guests leaving early. Your caterer or licensed bar provider should confirm final quantities.
Plan delivery and storage
Schedule arrival early enough to inspect the order. Keep wine and mixers at appropriate temperatures, secure spirits and separate reserve stock from the active bar.
Do not forget
Ice, water, nonalcoholic choices, garnishes, cups, openers and safe transportation are as important as the bottles.
