Product Description
Taylor Fladgate 20 Year Tawny Port Wine: Mature Cask-Aged Fruit, Nuts and Caramel
Taylor Fladgate 20 Year Tawny Port Wine is an aged tawny Port blended from wines matured in seasoned oak casks in Taylor Fladgate’s lodges in Oporto. The 20-year designation describes the style and average age represented by the blend, not a single vintage or one wine aged for exactly 20 years.
Long cask maturation gradually changes the color from deep ruby toward amber-tawny and develops the nutty, spicy and mellow character associated with aged tawny Port. Taylor identifies orange flower, jammy fruit, nuts and fine oak among the official notes.
The wine is fully matured before bottling and is ready to drink. It does not require decanting and should be stored upright, protected from light and kept at a cool, stable temperature.
Tasting Notes
Nose: Spiced dried fruit, toasted nuts, orange flower and caramel are joined by fig, oak and a light floral lift.
Palate: Rich and concentrated, with dates, jammy fruit, toffee, almonds, honey and balanced freshness.
Finish: Long, mellow and nutty, carrying caramel, citrus peel and polished oak.
Food Pairings
Taylor recommends desserts featuring figs, almonds or caramel, including crème brûlée and wild strawberries. It is also excellent with walnuts, dried fruit or simply served alone after a meal.
Serving Suggestions
Serve slightly chilled between 54°F and 61°F in a Port or white-wine glass. Decanting is not required. After opening, reseal the bottle, refrigerate it and enjoy over the following weeks while its aroma remains fresh.
