Frey Ranch Bottled-in-Bond Straight Rye Whiskey traces back to 1996, when the Frey family planted the first grain on their farm in Fallon, Nevada. They began distilling that grain in 2010, and by 2016 completed their first spirit made entirely from grain grown on their own land: rye. This release is the result of years of patient waiting for that rye to fully mature, making it one of the most personal expressions in the Frey Ranch lineup.

How Frey Ranch Bottled-in-Bond Rye Is Made

This whiskey is made from a rare 100% Winter Cereal Rye mash bill, grown, malted, distilled, and aged entirely on-site at the family's farm distillery. Rather than blending in other grains, Frey Ranch chose to showcase their slow-grown rye on its own, letting the grain's character speak without dilution from corn or barley. Aged a minimum of five years and bottled in bond at exactly 100 proof, it's made without added sugar or caramel color and left non-chill filtered for a fully natural finished product. It's earned a Double Gold medal at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition, along with Double Platinum, Platinum, and Gold honors at the 2025 American Spirits Council of Tasters Ascot Awards.

Nose: Vibrant citrus, particularly orange zest, followed by grain, molasses, vanilla, and herbs.

Palate: Much of the same character carries through, with assertive oakiness, leather, plum, and burnt sugar.
