Yamato Single Malt Japanese Whisky

Product Description

Yamato Single Malt Japanese Whisky: Floral Honey, Pear, and Vanilla at 43% ABV

Yamato Single Malt is the malt expression in the Yamato line, a US-exclusive brand from Aiko Importers whose label kanji, 大和, means “great harmony.” It’s described as crafted in the tradition of Japanese whisky-making, made from malted barley and pure spring water, distilled and matured in oak. It’s bottled at 43% ABV (86 proof), a step up in strength from the 40% Small Batch.

The profile is lighter and more floral than the Small Batch’s licorice-and-bourbon style. Expect honey and pear on the nose, vanilla and orchard fruit on the palate, and a clean, gently sweet finish with a touch of oak.

Food Pairings

The honey, pear, and vanilla pair well with sushi, grilled fish, and chicken. It also goes with soft cheeses, fresh fruit, and light desserts, and its delicate profile suits lighter dishes.

Serving Suggestions

Sip it neat in a tulip glass to catch the floral aromas, or add a few drops of water to open it. It’s also good on a single large cube. Its light, malty sweetness makes it an easy bridge for people new to Japanese-style whisky.
