Nikka Coffey Gin integrates decades of Nikka's experience distilling white spirits and blending whisky into a genuinely distinctive gin. Introduced in Japan in 2017, it's named after the same Coffey stills, imported from Scotland in 1963, that Nikka has long used to produce its signature grain whisky. That base distillate is what sets Coffey Gin apart from most other gins on the market, giving it a silky texture and rich body most juniper-forward gins simply don't have.

How Nikka Coffey Gin Is Made

The base spirit runs entirely through Nikka's continuous Coffey stills, then a pot still is used separately to distill the gin's Japanese citrus botanicals, and a vacuum still handles the delicate sansho pepper. Eleven botanicals in total go into the recipe: traditional gin elements like juniper, coriander, angelica root, and lemon and orange peel, balanced against four distinct Japanese citruses, yuzu, kabosu, amanatsu, and shequasar, along with apple, a fruit closely tied to Nikka's own history. It's bottled at 47% ABV.
