Wheatley American Vodka is the namesake spirit of Harlen Wheatley, Master Distiller at Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort, Kentucky, America's oldest continuously operating distillery. Armed with a chemistry degree and a chemical engineering degree, Harlen joined Buffalo Trace as a supervisor in 1995 and was named Master Distiller by 2005, becoming the distillery's sixth Master Distiller since the Civil War. A four-time James Beard Award nominee for Outstanding Wine and Spirits Professional, Harlen had always wanted to create a premium vodka of his own, one built on the same craftsmanship that's made Buffalo Trace's bourbons world-renowned.

Crafted in small batches using Harlen's one-of-a-kind micro-still, Wheatley is made from red winter wheat and locally sourced, limestone-filtered water, the exact same high-quality ingredients used in Buffalo Trace's prestigious bourbon programs. The process is genuinely unique: two separate grain recipes are each distilled seven times, then married together and distilled an additional three rounds, for a total of ten distillations, before triple filtration and bottling at 82 proof. As Harlen himself describes it, "this is how vodka is supposed to taste."
