Rémy Martin VSOP Fine Champagne Cognac: The Reference VSOP from Grande and Petite Champagne

Rémy Martin VSOP is a Cognac Fine Champagne created in 1927 by Cellar Master André Renaud, blending eaux-de-vie from Grande Champagne and Petite Champagne, the two top growing areas of the Cognac region, where chalky soils give the spirit its aging potential. Rémy Martin was founded in 1724, and it’s the only major cognac house to specialize exclusively in Fine Champagne, a designation requiring at least 50% of the eaux-de-vie to come from Grande Champagne. Retailers cite a blend of about 55% Grande Champagne and 45% Petite Champagne.

The VSOP is aged in French Limousin oak and is twice the age of a standard VS. It pours gold, “old pale,” and is bottled at 40% ABV (80 proof). Retailers say it’s blended from hundreds of eaux-de-vie aged four to fifteen years.
