传统上，龙舌兰先在石炉中烘烤，然后通过石磨碾磨工艺转化为汁液。随后在铜制蒸馏器中进行发酵和蒸馏，从而保留龙舌兰的精华，最终酿造出纯度极高的白龙舌兰酒。
为了酿造陈酿龙舌兰酒（Reposado），先将白龙舌兰酒（Blanco）在美国橡木桶和波本威士忌酒桶中陈酿至少十个月，使其带有香草、焦糖和香料的风味。随后的过滤过程既保留了龙舌兰酒的特色，又使其拥有了独特的清澈度。
