最初的 80 度（40 酒精度）金酒于 1998 年首次研发，并于 1999 年推出，成为最初的超级优质金酒。
这款金酒采用传统的伦敦干金酒风格，兼具风味和干度，融合了极其传统的蒸馏方法和马丁本人对金酒蒸馏的颠覆性“诠释”。
他打破传统，坚持对杜松子和泥土气息较浓的植物成分进行两次单独的蒸馏，然后再与第二次单独蒸馏的来自塞维利亚的苦橙皮、柠檬和青柠皮的柑橘成分“结合”或混合。
他认为这有助于他的金酒拥有独特的清新口感和纯净风味。
大多数壶式蒸馏金酒都使用三个蒸馏器，其中一个呈铜棕色，标有“高馏分”（High Feints），另一个标有“低馏分”（Low Feints），分别代表“酒头”和“酒尾”。这些蒸馏器用于处理蒸馏开始和结束时流出的酒液，因为这些酒液的品质达不到中间部分或“酒心”的水平。也就是说，在蒸馏开始时，将最初的酒液分流到“酒头”蒸馏器中；随着酒心的临近，将其分流到主蒸馏器中；当酒液品质开始下降时，再将其分流到“酒尾”蒸馏器中。这些品质略显粗糙、不适合上流社会使用的残渣，需要经过重新蒸馏和提炼，才能最终加入到金酒的酿造流程中。
在通过主锅的过程中，酒液蒸汽会经过一个“浆果托盘”或卡特黑德。
这个托盘里装着植物原料，它们或装在预包装的小袋里，或散放在笼子里。其目的是让酒液蒸汽通过卡特黑德蒸馏器时，能够吸收并萃取出赋予金酒独特风味和口感的香料和油脂。
马丁·米勒金酒具有浓郁的柑橘香气和味道，杜松子的味道在中途显现，最后以清爽柔和的余味收尾。

口感顺滑，带有柑橘香气。杜松子味依然浓郁，但柑橘的清新感也恰到好处地展现出来，达到了完美的平衡。这是一款“真正有金酒味道”的金酒。
