直到 19 世纪中叶，清酒一直是日本的传统酒精饮料，但威士忌传入日本后便备受追捧。
经过多年的失败，他认定掌握这门艺术的唯一途径就是前往苏格兰。1918 年第一次世界大战结束后，一位年轻的日本男子踏上了前往苏格兰的漫长旅程。
这位年轻小伙子抵达北方海岸后，很快便坠入爱河。他娶了这位娇艳动人的姑娘，并于1922年带她回到日本。然而，他那位精明能干的老板却破产了。这位年轻人找到新工作后，在啤酒行业辛勤劳作，但他始终无法忘记自己曾经学到的一切。
1934年，在妻子的鼓励下，这位先生找到了一处合适的地点，开设了自己的酿酒厂，并在与苏格兰相似的气候条件下忠实地重现了苏格兰威士忌的酿造工艺。到了20世纪50年代，Nikka余市威士忌诞生了。时至今日，余市蒸馏所仍然使用煤炭加热铜制蒸馏器。

1979年，享年85岁的他与世长辞。他就是日本威士忌之父——竹鹤政孝。他的精神永存，而日果竹鹤威士忌正是对他最好的诠释。这款佳酿融合了竹鹤政孝酒厂余市和宫城峡两家酒厂最优质的麦芽威士忌。
这款名为“凯旋”的日果竹鹤威士忌曾两次荣膺“世界最佳调和麦芽威士忌”称号，并陈酿17年。它融合了余市威士忌传统的阳刚之气，以及宫城峡威士忌优雅纯净的风格和创新精准的酿造工艺。
这款威士忌散发着成熟的干果、木质皮革、烟草和香料的香气。竹鹤17年威士忌口感醇厚复杂，平衡优雅，入口辛香浓郁，随后是蜂蜜、香草和巧克力的甜美气息，余味悠长，橡木、水果和可可的香气再次浮现。
