Stone Delicious IPA
With their no holds barred approach to craft brewing, when we heard that Stone Brewing Company had spent time over a year developing this beer we couldn't wait to try it.
Just as they had with their other legendary award winning beers, when they began development of this beer those clever folk at Stone set themselves a target. For some beers that target has in the past been to attain a very precise bitterness score, or alcohol volume. And, just as they have done before, in this too they set themselves a target though this one would be a little less precise, at least in terms of actual measurement potential. And yet, they were still reaching for the sky. This was to be a beer that packed in as much "unique" as was humanly possible. But of course, anyone can do unique. So the target also called for this brew to taste seriously phenomenal. Apart from that, they gave themselves free reign.
The result is staggering and oh, so very enticing. You will be glad this is a 6 pack! It is a very hop-driven. The varietals used, a blend of Lemondrop and El Dorado. They have combined to infused this beer with a humongous dollop of citrus. It is a lemon-candy zing dances a veritable jig upon the palate. As it does so, it is offset and insanely beautifully balanced with a pleasing undertow of bitterness and hops spice. In our very humble opinion, not only has their time been time very well spent, not only have they achieved their goal, they have smashed it.
Very modestly, Stone described this beer as being cutting-edge; a modern-day IPA.Finding a name for it was as it turns out incredibly easy. It really could not have been known by any other name. It really is Delicious.
And to that end, having it in a pack of six bottles was a master stroke. When you have polished off your first bottle...you'll still have five more left to wrap your lips around.
While our beers are many and diverse, yet unified by overarching boldness, India pale ales are our undeniable bread and butter. We’ve brewed many over the past 18 years, from double-down bitter bombs to piney session sippers. Whether it’s big IBUs or a precise ABV, there’s usually a target we’re shooting for.
The same is true of this, our latest IPA, but we gave zero thought to any acronyms. This one was all about packing as much unique and, you guessed it, delicious flavor into a glass as humanly possible, regardless of oomph or octane. This intensely citrusy, beautifully bitter beer is worthy of the simple-yet-lordly title of Stone Delicious IPA.
Lemondrop and El Dorado hops combine to bring on a magnificent lemon candy-like flavor that’s balanced by hop spice. It’s unlike anything we’ve tasted in nearly two decades of IPA experimentation, and another lupulin-laced creation we’re excited to introduce to hopheads everywhere.
