Rodenbach 2011 Vintage

Vintage 2011 was aged in oak vat number 96 at Brouwerij RODENBACH in Roeselare, Belgium for the last two years. The 750 ml bottles are cork topped and the Flanders sour ale resembles an Oloroso sherry wine with its deep red, coppery glow. Cask 96 was chosen for this year’s special Vintage because its track record in producing sour beer over the years has been superior.

“Our special Vintage series is a true passion of mine and something we get to enjoy for the two years we watch our new beer mature” says Brewmaster Rudi Ghequire. “Every tasting session during the process of maturing is a learning experience and every sip is better than the last.”

Vintage 2011 will be in select U.S. markets in 750 ML bottles and on draught in limited locations starting in early November, 2010. RODENBACH was recently named “best cross over beer for wine-loving women” by Esquire magazine and Vintage 2011 offers beer and wine aficionados a chance to uncork something new during the holidays.

Vintage 2011 is 7% ABV and is more mild than RODENBACH Grand Cru. Like other good sour beers, RODENBACH Vintage pairs perfectly with food because of the absence of hop bitterness. Vintage 2007 took home the Silver award in the Wood and Barrel Aged Sour category at this year’s World Beer Cup in Chicago.

RODENBACH is a highly decorated beer with more than 14 top awards received in the U.S. since 1996.

There are only 30,000 750 ml bottles of Vintage 2011. RODENBACH is often called the missing link between beer and wine. Please refer to www.latisimports.com to inquire about Vintage 2011 distribution or if you’re a retailer and would like information on ordering.

Latis, founded by two former InBev executives David van Wees and Anthony Giardina, is the exclusive U.S. importer of the PALM Breweries portfolio. Van Wees was recently knighted in Brussels, Belgium, an honor bestowed by the Belgian Brewing Guild to individuals that have demonstrated excellence in understanding and promoting the Belgian beer culture.

Vintage 2008 tasting notes:

Color: Deep red copper glow; resembles aged Oloroso sherry wine

Aroma/Nose:
o Complex nose
o Aroma – clear caramel and green apple accents
o Notes of honey and oak

Taste:
o Full-bodied and complex, crisp and refreshing
o Fruitiness of sour apple is combined with caramel, wild honey and oak
o Reminiscent of a good Calvados when warming up in the mouth

Finish/aftertaste:
o Well balanced, smoothly sour and fruity
o Long with a nice dry finish
