Orphan Barrel The Gifted Horse American Whiskey
Now who would have thought that the good people over there at the Stitzel-Weller Distillery would have slipped, slid, knocked over, and accidently poured 40% of an excellent 17-year-old Kentucky Straight Bourbon into a barrel, vat, steel tank or other a fine batch of something wonderful. Suffice to say this is working up to be just that and I am sure not about spilling the secret ….
With a real ratio of 38.5% 17-year-old, 61.5% 4-year-old it does lead one to question the authenticity claims that many critics have laid at its feet. The answers are short supply as the company’s lipped remain tightly sealed. Even an answer to the expected amount of bottles goes unanswered. Can one stay in a limited category without a clear suggested amount available.
In any nature, the overall consent from tasting is that this version is an absolute oak bomb and hot alcohol. Taken with a few drops of water, it turns into a delight to be enjoyed and savored.
