Old Potrero Straight Rye 6 Year Old Whiskey
Old Potrero Straight Rye 6 Year Old Whiskey was aged in new handmade fine grain charred American oak barrels. In traditional barrel making, the cooper heats the staves until they bend and then clamps them around a wooden form. This process causes the wood to expand, creating a tight seal between staves and preventing leakage of whiskey through the barrel walls.
Essentially what they do is they take staves of wood and they char it, steam it and bend it creating a barrel that is custom designed to hold our whiskey. This allows us to have some amazing flavors and characteristics come out of our whiskey.
