Kenwood Sonoma Cabernet Sauvignon
Winemaker Notes
Kenwood Vineyards’ Sonoma County Cabernet Sauvignon is primarily sourced from vineyards located in the Alexander, Dry Creek, and Sonoma Valleys. Each vineyard lot is kept separate throughout fermentation and aging to preserve the unique flavors of the individual vineyards that are brought together for the final blend.
The 2010 growing season began with a mild spring that gave way to a temperate summer. In late August a week of warm weather helped to bring the Cabernet Sauvignon to full ripeness. Each vineyard was carefully picked as it reached its optimum maturity and then crushed into stainless steel tanks for fermentation. After the wines went dry, they were racked and settled twice before being placed in a mixture of French, Eastern European, and American oak barrels. Before bottling, a small amount of Merlot and Syrah was added to the final blend to give the wine balance and complexity. This produced a rich and multifaceted wine that is enjoyable now as well as for several years to come.
