Jura Brooklyn Scotch Whisky
A rule breaker of a Scotch whisky that defies tradition.
Jura love Scotch whisky without doubt, but what they don't like is the arrogant pretentiousness that surrounds it; the sticking to ancient rules about how one should create it, or as it turns out - where.
Embracing the island of Brooklyn as its revolutionary spiritual twin, Jura’s own Master Distiller, Willie Tait, set off from the small isle in Argyll, Scotland taking with him six cask samples and travelling to the isle of Brooklyn, New York where he consulted with twelve of the boroughs most influential establishments and inhabitants.
Working together they blended, and tasted, paired and sampled. Tait returned triumphant with Jura Brooklyn, a unique and complex limited edition that celebrates this symbiotic collaborative relationship.
Aged upto 16 years, the blend is lush with berries and honey sweet. Smokey, with a distinctive hum of roasted coffee beans. The aroma light, slightly smoky and suggestive of bonfire smoke, roasted coffee and lush juicy figs. The palate delivers this with the rich sweetness of honey and currants permitting throughout, the sherry cask elements to the fore and the finish is medium, and smokey.
