The Glenrothes Alba Reserve Scotch Whisky
Taking its name Alba from the Gaelic word for Scotland, the name of Glenrothes Alba Reserve also acknowledges the fact that this expression has been matured in casks that are made from American White oak, whose Latin name is Quercus Alba.
The use of these casks exclusively for award winning Alba Reserve marks a diversion for Glenrothes whose policy is normally to use a combination of American and Spanish bourbon and sherry seasoned casks for their whiskey. However the result is a celebration. Treated with the same love and care as all Glenrothes whiskey which is released only when it has reached the very peak of its maturity.
Rather than the burnished gold one is used to Glenrothes Alba Reserve is much lighter in color. Bright and clear, it is a pale, sun dried straw color. The aroma is fresh and floral, abundant with delicious layers of creamy coconut and sumptuous vanilla.
The mouthfeel is soft and mellow, the flavors of velvety soft vanilla and rich creamy coconut are generously layered with fresh and juicy summer berries. Mid length, the finish is softly smooth and enticingly sweet.
