Westland Wine Cask Finish
Experience the artistry of whiskey-making with Westland Wine Cask Finish American Single Malt Whiskey, a spirit that embodies innovation and a deep connection to the Pacific Northwest. This limited-edition release explores the unique interplay between rich malt flavors and the nuanced influence of wine casks, resulting in a whiskey that is both complex and harmonious.
Crafted from an intricate grain bill featuring Washington Select Pale Malt, Munich Malt, Extra Special Malt, Brown Malt, and Pale Chocolate Malt, this whiskey is the epitome of depth and character. Initially aged in a combination of Cooper’s Reserve and Cooper’s Select New American Oak, as well as first-fill ex-bourbon barrels, it then undergoes a finishing process in wine casks, including Tempranillo, WA Red Blend, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, and Petit Verdot. This finishing stage infuses the whiskey with layers of fruit-forward complexity and a subtle tannic structure.
The nose opens with aromas of red berries, caramel, and a touch of spice, complemented by hints of chocolate and toasted oak. On the palate, lush flavors of dark cherry, dried figs, and vanilla intermingle with a backdrop of baking spices and a gentle earthiness. The finish is long and elegant, leaving traces of wine-soaked oak, dark chocolate, and a soft, lingering warmth.
