Cascade Manhattan NW
Northwest Style Sour Ale
Pucker Up for Cascade Manhattan NW
Cascade Brewing are artisans who are pioneering the way in the NW sour beer movement. Unbound by tradition, their imaginations have run wild. The result of which are some elixirs which, if not remedies for ailments, are surely panaceas for life.
Manhattan is a sour spiced Quad Ale that has been aged for 12 months first in casks that once held Heaven Hill Bourbon and then finally in casks that held Apricot Noyaux.
A blushing red amber liquid with a quickly dissipating off-white head. The aroma is strong, dominated by maraschino cherries, spices and sweet candy. The taste is aggressively tart with the sourness of the cherry skins, dancing on the palate with the amaretto almond flavors. The bourbon provides a lasting richness that counterbalances the dry tartness of the cherry beautifully.
