2015 - 06 Noe Secret Batch

Noe Secret was named in honor of my Dad and his honest approach to creating the recipe for his namesake bourbon. Dad always spoke his mind, and kept no secrets in life or when it came to making his iconic whiskey. This batch has rich flavors of vanilla that Booker’s Bourbon is known for, along with a hint of cherry and a warm mouthfeel that opens to a long, smooth finish. 
I selected this batch at this year’s New York WhiskyFest with the help of the Booker’s Bourbon Roundtable, an exclusive group of top whiskey experts, enthusiasts and writers, who helped me identify a batch that honors dad’s whiskey preference. The group had a tough job, but selected this batch with an overwhelming vote, calling it “a mega bourbon with the structure that Booker’s is known for.”

Booker liked to age his namesake barrels in the center of the rackhouse — the 5th floor — to achieve the robust flavor that Booker’s Bourbon is known for. This is where the temperature, humidity and sunlight combine to produce perfect aging conditions. As for the meat, Booker liked to cure his own and enjoyed nothing better than a thick slice from the center.
