The finest bourbon in the world comes from a single barrel. That’s the way Colonel Albert B. Blanton first bottled his private reserve bourbon nearly a century ago. Blanton believed the “center-cut” or middle sections of Warehouse H were the best for aging his bourbon. Personally tasting and choosing each barrel, these barrels were reserved and bottled for ambassadors, dignitaries, family and friends becoming the world’s first single barrel bourbon. His time honored tradition lives on today as only a handful of barrels from the center of Warehouse H are selected to become Blanton’s Single Barrel Bourbon.
Blanton's was conceived and originally distilled by Elmer T. Lee at Buffalo Trace.
* Blanton's Single Barrel Bourbon earned the Chairman's Trophy as the world's best bourbon at the Ultimate Spirits Challenge in 2012 and 2013, scoring three points higher than Pappy Van Winkle's 23 Year Old Bourbon in 2012 and two points higher than Pappy Van Winkle's 20 Year Old Bourbon in 2013. In addition, the bourbon earned the Double Gold Medal at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition in 2012 and was said to be "liquid gold" in Jim Murray's Whisky Bible.
* Blanton's was named the world's best bourbon at the Ultimate Spirits Challenge in 2012 and 2013, scoring 98 points in 2012 and 97 points in 2013.
