Tequila Blanco or Silver Tequila is a clear alcohol that can be made of either 100% agave or mixto. Tequila Blanco’s ageing process is very different to that of the anejo. Tequila Blanco producers age their tequila for no more 60 days in stainless steel tanks, if they age them at all. Tequila Blanco is primarily used for mixing, especially in fruit-based drinks. It’s margarita night with a nice tequila blanco.
Tequila Blanco is Blue Agave liquor in its purest form. The liquor is clear and the true flavors and intensity of the Agave are very dominant, as well as the natural sweetness of the tequila. This type of tequila can be bottled directly after distillation or can be stored in stainless steel tanks to settle for up to 4 weeks. There are some Tequila Blanco products that are aged for up to 2 months to provide a smoother or "Suave" spirit.
A variety of cocktails can be made with tequila, including the margarita, a cocktail that single-handedly helped make tequila popular in the United States. The traditional margarita uses tequila, Cointreau, and lime juice. A popular beverage in Mexico is a drink called the Paloma that is made from tequila, grapefruit juice or soda, and lime juice. Also, a large number of tequila drinks are made by adding fruit juice, such as the Tequila Sunrise and the Matador.
